REST API Design: reliable APIs with Laravel, Symfony or FastAPI

A reliable API your frontend teams or partners can consume without friction.

The problem I solve

Your frontend, your mobile app or your partners depend on an API that breaks with every change, returns inconsistent errors or slows down as soon as traffic grows. Without a clear contract or documentation, every integration costs days of back and forth. You need an API designed as a product: stable, versioned, secure and documented.

What you get

  • ✓RESTful design with versioning, JWT auth and pagination
  • ✓Swagger / OpenAPI documentation
  • ✓Rate limiting and load testing
  • ✓Third-party API integration

How I work

  1. 1

    API contract

Resources, endpoints and error formats, described in an OpenAPI specification validated with your teams before any code is written.

  2. 2

    Security

JWT or Sanctum authentication, per-resource authorization, rate limiting, protections from the OWASP API Top 10.

  3. 3

    Implementation and tests

Laravel, Symfony or FastAPI depending on your context, with pagination, versioning and automated tests.

  4. 4

    Performance and production

Database indexes, Redis caching, load testing and published Swagger documentation.

Frequently asked questions

Laravel, Symfony or FastAPI for my API?
Laravel to move fast with a complete ecosystem, Symfony for highly structured enterprise projects, FastAPI when the API serves AI or data processing in Python.
REST, GraphQL or gRPC?
REST remains the best default for a public API or one consumed by a frontend. GraphQL helps when clients have very different data needs, gRPC for internal communication between microservices.
How do you secure an API?
Token authentication (JWT or Sanctum), access control on every resource, strict input validation, rate limiting and a review against the OWASP API Security Top 10.
Can you document or take over an existing API?
Yes. I write the OpenAPI specification from the existing code, then fix the inconsistencies (errors, pagination, versioning) without breaking current clients, working remotely from Antananarivo in direct contact with your teams.
